Movistar Yamaha rider Valentino Rossi will start the Spanish Grand Prix race at the Jerez circuit on Sunday (03/05/2015), from the fifth starting position. Rossi has never started from the front row this season.
Pole position will be occupied by teammate, Jorge Lorenzo. Marc Marquez and Andrea Iannone will start from second and third positions.
"Looking at the appearance of the track (in practice and qualifying), Jorge will try to escape from the beginning of the race," said Rossi. "He's got more speed. He took pole position. He always started the race with good, he will try to escape from the start. I will try to start well and stay close to Jorge."
Rossi calls the last area of the Jerez circuit as a part in which he needs the most improvement.
"I do not really fantastic, especially in the latter area. I am not too good in the fast corners. Jorge could pass more quickly and I think he would be a target to be defeated," said Rossi.
Although never started the race from the front row, Rossi has picked up two wins from the three races that have been held this season. Victory in Qatar and Argentina had when he started the race from the start eighth.
At the Grand Prix Americas in Austin which is the second series, 36-year-old rider finished third after starting the race from the start fourth. Rossi now leads the standings with 66 points, six points ahead of Andrea Dovizioso who was second.
Spanish Grand Prix race will take place Sunday starting at 15:00 local time (20:00 pm).
